Taking their Liberal stance in Hollywood is not bravery: it’s safe. Everyone takes the Liberal position in Hollywood. Are we in trouble today? You’re damn right. The media has brain-washed the general populous into believing the other side is automatically wrong or evil. We vote due to our values and belief systems. That’s true. However, being a good person is not who you vote for; it’s about what you do one on one. Are you the type of person who helps a friend or coworker or neighbor in need? If so, this makes you a good person. Voting Democrat does not automatically make you a great person.
I am focusing on Democrats in this article, because I get tired of the hostility towards Conservatives. I realize many Conservatives say racist and homophobic things to people online. That deserves backlash. I’m talking about Democrats that act like all Conservatives are evil and deserve hate and animosity. That is entirely unacceptable. It’s especially wrong when Democrats allege to be philanthropists that vote with their hearts. You are so loving that you just dismiss people based off of who they vote for. How about Democrats that tell Conservative women they deserve to be raped for voting for Trump? How about Democrats that tell gay, black, and Latino Conservatives they are voting against their own people? I thought freedom of choice was what Democrats wanted? They want you to fall in line and believe what they believe. You are entitled to your anger and annoyance at the other side. Also, you are more than free to engage in civil debates and discussions, but don’t mistake voting booth fantasies for morality.
Now I would like to segue into political messaging in movies and television shows. Fallout was written by a man named Harlan Ellison. Well, A Boy And His Dog was written by Harlan Ellison. Fallout was inspired by A Boy And His Dog. Robin Williams once said
“Harlan Ellison was as radical a leftist as you could get for the 1960’s. When you watch Fallout, you should expect a very Liberal leaning show that was inspired by the likes of Harlin Ellison. Science Fiction tends to be very Liberal leaning anyway.
Now The Twilight Zone was science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Less discerning observers could argue that The Twilight Zone has some liberal messages. To which I would reply:
“There’s the brainwashing speaking.” Democrats would like to believe they own decency. Anything or anyone speaking out about racism, bigotry, or homophobia is automatically an ideal they claim as their own. News Flash…Helping your fellow man or woman is not inherently Conservative or Democratic.
My dad is the most Conservative man on the planet and he loves The Twilight Zone. I want to be careful with what I say here; but if you are glorifying one political ideology over
another in a book, play, movie, or television show, then you are being preachy. Take any Christmas movie and what is this message? It’s Charity, mercy, forbearance, common welfare, and thinking of others. No one told Scrooge:
“You Conservative asshole, you’re affecting the poor, change.” We don’t know Scrooge’s politics.
Look at the Art Carney episode of The Twilight Zone. It’s called “Night of The Meek.” There was a line in there.
“I wish I was the real Santa Claus so I could help children like that.” Here we are forced to accept a harsh truth that many people endure a harsh reality at Christmas. It is not fair that so many children grow up in a home where they don’t even know if their parents can afford supper, much less expect presents on Christmas morning. It’s a reality expressed in “Night of The Meek” when the little girl asks Mr. Corwin, Art Carney’s character the mall Santa for a dolly for her and a job for her daddy. These lines are used in the movie. “The only thing that comes down the chimney is more heartache and poverty.” “Holy shit. I can either drink, or I can weep, but drinking is so much more subtle.” These lines are so brutal but through a fantastical scenario, Corwin gets his wish to be Santa Claus every year. We all get hope while we are watching. We get a nice smile to end the episode. That means that we can all enjoy the holidays even “without any presents at all,” to quote the Grinch.
Just because you are suffering does not give you the right to steal joy from others, Christmas or not. Don’t be a miser like Scrooge or steal others’ Christmas like the Grinch. Even with all the suffering going on in the world there is still a reason to smile. Don’t steal other people’s joy. It’s easy to dismiss bigotry but Pink telling pro-lifers not to come to her concerts is bullshit.
“You act like you are so very good, and we are so vey good and so very bad,” Ludmila Drago. Just because you are angry does not mean you’re entitled to spread your misery around. Like my dad once said:
“Democrats are never happy.” In 2026 it’s kind of true. You lost the election. So quit bitching and get ready for the next election.
