Luxury fashion art designed and handmade in Germany
www.maestofficial.com 1. Marketa, what’s your story? Why did you choose to dedicate your life to fashion and design? The love of fashion is innate in me. Already as a child I played at my grandma's whole wardrobe and tried on every piece of fashion and dressed my younger sister. Afterwards the whole family sat in the living room and we presented our choice of clothes. My Czech grandmother was a seamstress, so I experienced the process of making clothes from a very young age.

Clothing resale; a sustainable future of an industry killer?
Have you ever got the feeling of dread at the thought of cleaning your closet? Or maybe that pile of clothes on the floor waiting to be sorted and put away? Like many of us, the problem of our excessive wardrobes is becoming a larger concern than we imagined. Approximately 300,000 tonnes of clothing are being thrown out into landfill every year yet only a small fraction of that is recycled into new textiles. So how do we combat a problem that we have created? You incentivise change for the better and add profit. Reselling has become an economic force exceeding the billion-dollar market revenue, and the ones who profit are the youth. Depop, eBay, Grailed are some of the big-name companies out there that are paving the way for the future of fashion from the tip of your fingers. This begs the question, are people really becoming more ecologically conscious or is it just another commercial ploy?

How To Shop Vintage And Stay On Trend
I owe my love for vintage to one of my biggest style inspirations, my late grandmother. She had some of the funniest pieces like Chanel glasses with a pearl hanging down on it that were in the family and weren’t being used! When my family showed them to me and asked if I’d like to keep them, my mouth literally dropped. I was just a young girl in high school. Once I found fun ways to style these vintage pieces, I got interested in shopping vintage to differentiate my style from the monotony that sometimes exists in the fashion space. There’s something to be said about putting your best self out there with older pieces that not everyone is obsessed over. It gives you a sense of renewed individuality, and sometimes even greater confidence.

California's Best Shopping Spots for Summer
Having grown up in California practically my whole life, I’ve learned a thing or two about some great shopping spots to visit during the summers. With social distancing rules and so many retail stores in malls shutting down now, however, it may seem that shopping online is slowly becoming the only option, but I have hope for the future of retail. After all, there is a huge population out there that wants to see and feel items before spending hard earned money on it. Too, if you step out and practice caution—wear a mask and distance yourself from others--it isn’t a sin to go shopping. Sound like something you’d like to do? Well, whether you’re just visiting California or else are a resident looking for new things to do, I think it’s really important to know which so called “hot spots” are actually worth the hype. Here are a few shopping locations I suggest for those spending their summers in California, along with some outfit-inspo to go with each!
