How to do a pedicure with gel polish coating

Explanation and advantages of gel pedicure

By VeronikaPublished 12 months ago 3 min read

One of the main advantages of a pedicure with gel polish is that it lasts without chipping for at least two weeks. However, given that a regular pedicure often lasts much longer than a manicure, the question arises: is it worth spending the extra money and time on a pedicure with gel polish? Let's take a closer look at this to understand all the nuances and advantages of a gel polish pedicure.

What is a pedicure with a gel polish coating

Gel polish pedicure is a procedure for applying gel polish to your nails after a spa pedicure. Gel polish is durable and resistant on both fingernails and toenails. Gel polish is dried with an ultraviolet lamp. Unlike regular polish, modern gel polish used for pedicure has a wide palette of colors and can maintain a flawless look on nails for two to four weeks.

Advantages of pedicure with gel polish

- Longevity. Gel polish provides long-term nail beautification, maintaining a bright color and shine for several weeks.

- Strengthening nails. The gel polish formula helps to strengthen the nail plate, protecting it from damage and brittleness.

- Flawless Look: Nails look flawless and well-groomed thanks to the smooth coverage and the ability to create a variety of designs.

- Fast drying: Special polymerization lamps allow you to quickly fix the coating, reducing the time for the procedure.

- Easy to care for: Gel polish can be easily removed with special products without damaging the natural nail.

- Correction Option: If necessary, you can easily correct or update the design without completely removing the gel polish.

How long does a gel polish pedicure last?

Gel polish pedicure, like manicure, can last from two weeks to a month, subject to regular care. It can last up to four weeks depending on the choice of shoes, activity style, and nail growth rate. However, the presence of moisture, chlorinated water, or sand (such as on a beach or pool) can accelerate the chipping of the coating.

In summer, it is recommended to perform a pedicure twice a month. This recommendation is due to the fact that the skin of the feet is constantly exposed to dust particles and ultraviolet radiation. In addition, when wearing closed shoes made of synthetic materials, the feet are very often in a humid environment.

Why do some girls wear gel polish on their feet for three weeks or more, while others have to correct it after a week and a half or two?

Often, this moment depends on the individual characteristics of the body: some nail plates grow slowly, while others grow quickly. In the second case, in order to extend the wearing time of the coating, you can go for a little trick and choose a natural shade of gel polish that resembles the natural tone of the nail plate. When the nail grows back, the transition will not be very noticeable and the aesthetics will remain for a few more days. If the correction time is caused by the fact that the gel polish has peeled off or chipped, then we can talk about application errors, for example:

  • the ends of the nails are not painted over;
  • poor preparation of the nail surface;
  • incompatibility of coatings;
  • problems with polymerization, etc.

Inference

Is it worth doing a pedicure with gel polish? It depends on your preferences and goals. If it's important to you that your pedicure looks flawless and lasts for at least two weeks, such as for a special occasion or holiday, then a gel pedicure is perfect. Otherwise, a pedicure with regular nail polish is a quick and easy way to refresh the look of your nails and can be easily removed at home. The choice is yours.
