veteran
It's imperative to look up to and learn from army veterans; only then can we truly understand the sacrifices made by men and women in uniform.
Service Repaid. Top Story - February 2021.
Soo-Jin Quinn paced the waiting room area feverishly as she counted down the time. She looked at the light above the door expecting it to cease its glow at any moment. She knew she still had three more long agonizing minutes until it was her turn, and it was torture.

Forgotten Days Past
“After all, if you have a chance of being shot or blown up any day, what threat is lung cancer?” Joe reasoned and dragged another puff on his Woodbine. He glanced up out of their hole; distant flashes of fire lit his eyes. Smoke that held the tang of scorched earth, burnt metal and hell, filled his nostrils.

My Transition from the Army.
Serving in the United States Army for the last 20 years 5 months and 18 days has been the most amazing experience of my life (so far). Are there moments I regret…. of course! Did I form amazing lifelong bonds with people…of course! I experienced so much that I could probably write a series of articles on that as well. However, this piece is on how I successfully (kind of) handled my transition from the Army.

Cowboys hang on
"An old guy in a wheelchair just arrived and he said he's really hungry, wet and cold and he says he's glad that we're here," Jason announces as he walks through the kitchen in Pioneer Hall. I look out and see that he's all set up with a plate of food and so I go back to trying to finish washing the dishes.

Out in the Military
When I originally wrote Homefront, I didn't consider other points of view when it came to others in the LGBT community serving in the military. I did take some of my experiences even though I did overdramatize them. I'm needed something more than the ongoing plotline and character development.

You’re My Friend
In a Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) somewhere on the East Coast of the United States, I had been staying in a facility at the VAMC for homeless veterans. The program I had to do or either be booted from the hospital grounds where I had been staying was Silver Spoons. It consisted of feeding older veterans meals. I accepted this charge only based on facing the alternative of being out in the cold.

Military Pride
The LGBT+ community has had a long history with the military. Unfortunately, most of it has been while serving in the closet due to America’s puritanical laws. Even though there has been a ban on serving for along time in the past, many LGBT+ people joined up anyway. Even though the Stonewall Riots ushered in the gay rights movement, equality was still far down the road. It still didn’t stop anyone from serving.

A Return to Passion
She had lived a rich and full life, hectic and crazy busy as it was, in the Navy. It seemed she was always in demand by senior leadership in her specialty as an interpreter and communications specialist. Only a handful of people in the Navy could speak the number of languages she knew fluently. There were even fewer who had the skills in the Navy and its allies' various communication systems. In short, she was a spook and a highly trained one at that.

MISSION
The Colours of the fall are so beautiful, but November has me feeling heavy and sad for the fallen and those who are still falling. I am also falling... but if I fall, those who love me will suffer and life for them will never ever have the same colours and they almost surely may also fall... Therefore, I still have a purpose here and I do want to stay alive, but why is death always so close to me and always looming over me?
