Forward
It’s not every day you are told you are being attached to a forward unit. For the guys in my platoon, you would have thought we had just won the lottery. Marines are funny that way, I guess. We were a weapons platoon at the time. Three rifleman, Lcpl Dodorice, Lcpl Wolf, Lcpl Bill. Six mortars, Lcpl black, Lcpl worth, Lcpl Scare, Lcpl Rob. Four anti tanks, Lcpl Quinn, Lcpl Mul, Lcpl Len, Pfc Trey. Our fearless leaders, Lieutenant Sir and Sergeant Silks. And of course, myself as acting machine gunner.

Turbulence
My friend recently lost a young passenger when she was working a flight. I was a flight attendant for 35 years. I was fortunate enough to never have a passenger die on my watch. We came close but we were fortunate enough to save his life. I can’t imagine how that must feel; losing someone you are fighting so hard to save. In spite of them performing CPR and using all the life saving measures that we have on board the airplane her young life was lost. There are some dark moments when you’re a flight attendant. It’s mostly fun and excitement, yes but we’re trained for the darker things that happen. That’s why we are really there.

It's All About the Benjamins Baby
I've been thinking about how to amplify mutual aid requests on my Instagram account (@trustmeimasocialworker) for a while. If you are unaware, IG severely limits reach when posting mutual aid requests. For VOCAL (pun totally not intended but clap for me anyway) accounts like mine who are shadow banned every other week, IG limits our reach. Reach for all the things I want to amplify including my #pulluporshutupdonoharm campaign against medical racism. Recently I decided not to try to "trick" the algorithm anymore, I'm over it. Going forward I will share mutual aid requests to my stories and save them to my highlights labeled "mutual aid". Currently I'm in Mexico with no cell phone, so when I get one I'll update the highlights and you'll have a one stop shop/resource to visit.

They Killed Her Husband. She Got Her Revenge
Mariya Vasilyevna Oktyabrskaya (née Garagulia) was born in 1905 into a poor peasant family in Crimea. Indeed, destitute was an understatement, as she was regarded as a serf - a fancy term for slave. Coming from a humble background, she fervently embraced the growing expansion of communism and its values, as it gave her an education, two jobs, and even a husband.
