FPS: The Last Flame Challenge Winners
Welcome to our first Winners Announcement of the year and to the final challenge in the Fall Poetry Series. The Last Flame invited writers to sit with endings, using fire as a central image to consider what remains when something burns out: ash, warmth, memory, silence, or the faint promise of what comes next. The strongest pieces treated endings as gradual rather than sudden, allowing them to flicker, dim, and linger.

If I were asked to remark on my life and the childhood that paved some road leading me to this point, I would have to say something about all the funny people who surrounded me for the last 26,872 days (and counting). Somewhere along that road, I became a big fan of laughter and the comedy that spawns it – and, I mean not only my own laughter, but the laughter of others, some of which I have actually been responsible for inducing.

My psyuedonym is ROCK. It comes from my developing my inner strength after an unhealthy and traumatic relationship with someone I love. I write fiction, poetry, prose, non-fiction and children's stories. I love a good sense of humor and blatant honesty. I recommend Poppy the Poet. I haven't read anything by Poopy that didn't touch me deeply. Of late I read a fictional piece titled "Scarlett; The Girl Who Always Smiled". vocal.media/fiction/scarlett-bv5x0ii0 This not only had an unexpected twist but was highly relatable to anyone who lives with depression and anxiety yet hides behind s smile. I was elected "Wittiest" in high school by my classmates. I was suffering deeply from severe depression and I believe this story stirs a little something inside all of us. Thank you for taking the time to read some of Poppy's creations.
