The Aftermath

Little did she know

By Wajeeha HPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Staring into the air, holding an empty pill bottle, feeling numb from the drugs.. a tear drop rolled down her cheek and she she suddenly couldn't breath. Snapping back into reality shaking, feeling alone and not able to say a word, she suddenly just falls. Her body just couldn't take it anymore. She was already emotionally and mentally drained and it finally caught up to her physically. The heat of her body escaped, she froze and her eyes rolled to the back of her head. That was it, she died.. Alone. No one there to tell her she was loved, to tell her she meant something to the world.. She died feeling the way she had all of her life. She died feeling like she deserved it.. Feeling like it would do some good to the world.. Little did she know what she meant to the world.

Her little brother walked in seeing her body on the floor. Him thinking she just fell asleep he called her name while shaking her, he felt her cold skin then suddenly realized what had happened. He yelled her name over and over hoping an eye would open and she would just wake up. He yelled and shouted on the top of his lungs and that's when their mother and 2 sisters heard the yelling.

They run up stairs & see him crying and yelling next to her.. Her sisters crying trying to wake her up, blaming their selves.. Their mother drops to the floor, holding her dead daughter in her arms, yelling and screaming, blaming herself for not giving her enough attention, for not taking her cries more seriously.

Her father comes home from a long day of work. He hears yelling and crying and runs to his daughters room.. Seeing his wife holding their children.. One who was now dead.. He runs across the room with his eyes blurry and full of tears screaming to God, asking why. Why has this happened?Holding his wife and children, one who was now dead, he just cries.. Not knowing what to do or say. He blames himself for working too much. He blames himself for not constantly asking her about how she felt and what was going on in her life.

The word of her death gets out. Her friends blaming theirselves for not checking up on her. Her family bursting in tears during her funeral. Years go by and nothing was ever the same. Her best friend is now in therapy for cutting herself from becoming depressed. Her little brother has anger issues & gets into fights over everything. He's been in and out of jail 6 times since her death. Her older sisters moved away, not being able to handle living where she died.. No body has heard from them. Her mother has become quiet, she doesn't talk anymore. She just lays in her dead daughters bed looking at pictures, crying. And her father.. He has lost sight in an eye. He goes to work every night with blurry eyes filled with tears and comes home to phone calls from the cops about his son getting locked up again and he bails him out everytime, brings him home and they all sit on her bed, hugging and crying.. Feeling completely hopeless.. If only she was able to see what an effect this had on everyone. If only she had somebody to remind her she had a purpose on this world, she would of still been here. All she needed was one person to tell her "I love you".. It would of been that simple to keep her alive. But now she's gone, and no one could bring her back.
