The 5 C's for Change Wellness
Upgrading your relationship with change.

Change wellness is not something you hear often.
Yet we experience change all…the…time.
Change is THE constant in life.
And how we view and relate with change makes a huge difference on we navigate any life transition.
What is your relationship with change?
I usually do a card pull for the week and it is quite the afterthought to change, with the theme being "Openness."
It feels on point to exploring how we think about change, especially as it supports the many ways we declutter different aspects of our lives.
And decluttering our mindset paves the foundation for our ultimately re-designing how we want to think and be with our experiences.
Let's dig deeper into our mental terrain and identify those muscles of strength we are called to fortify in our relationship to change.
The 5 C's for Change Wellness
These 5 Cs are what I'd like to call important pillars of our wellness regimen when it comes to change.
With these particular mindset shifts, we can develop a more self-aware interaction with change.
If change were a person, who or what would they look like to you, and how would you treat them?
Let's walk through those 5 C's.
COLLABORATIVE COMMUNICATION
Communication is key for us to have a deeper relationship with ourselves and with change.
How you speak to yourself during these change moments is vital.
In turn, how you speak with others during these moments can also be a learning opportunity with the similarities or differences you notice in the exchanges.
Also, communicating your needs and wants during these "Big-C" or "small-c" changes is another way to seek the support you're seeking in those experiences.
CULTIVATING COMPASSION
Compassion is essential in how we hold ourselves internally before taking action externally.
Being more kind to ourselves in the ways we react to change can lead to the practice of nonjudgment for the many colors we express in those more difficult change moments.
Stepping more fully into kindness and compassion for ourselves can help us understand others and the changes in our lives.
CONSISTENT CURIOSITY
Curiosity is crucial in stepping more mindfully into a growth mindset.
When we remain open (tied back to our card pull this week) to what something can mean for us, we return to a place of wonderment and actively stretch our mindfulness muscles to see both the smaller details and the bigger picture.
Cultivating learning about what is changing in your life, especially as you transition from one phase to the next, can only help you better handle the change.
CYCLES OF CREATION
Cycles of creation is the life mantra we can hold for change overall.
Change is dynamic and a part of life.
It brings in what needs to come for something else to fall away. And it takes away to bring in.
Change is constant and cyclical. It allows for a clearing to take place for something new to be created.
When we or another aspect of our life changes form, it gets uncomfortable before it gets comfortable, as we are re-aligning with the shift.
Change helps us grow, and most importantly, it helps us grow with the seasons we experience, internally and externally.
CALM CENTER
The calm center refers to grounding in your heart space, or center, and returning to that peaceful and relaxed state to help you view change from different angles.
When we are in a highly emotional state when reacting to change, we shouldn't ignore it. We should acknowledge it and find ways to express that emotion until it leads us to a calm heart-space center.
Once you've actively worked with the strong emotions that come forward as a result of the change, you can return to a collaborative space where the mind, heart, and soul align to feel more empowered and calm to handle the next steps.
I hope these five pillars can be handy for those moments when you feel like you're stepping into the unchartered terrain of a life change experience and need an anchor point.
Take what resonates with you and leave out the rest.
Here's to aligning with our "5-C's" of remaining open to what change offers us! Thanks for reading - be well and until next time. 🙏🏼
