The Sound of a Dream
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Of course “they” say lots of things. They always have and they always will. It’s not that they don’t have good intentions, but how could they possibly know everything? Even if everyone was truly in touch with each other and all the answers were presented wrapped in a bow, the party would still be a bust. And “nobody” is a big word when referencing something as vast as space. Even though we have sent probes deep into its expanse, although we’ve stared through telescopes into the stars and recorded astonishing sights, and though we build massive satellites to receive messages - we just don’t hear. If they tried, without fear of failure and threw all their might and will at the puzzle, they couldn’t hope to understand it. This puzzle was complex, big, ever changing, never ending, and it was beyond our reach. Some things are and we just can’t get all the way there on our own. It’s too far and too overwhelming. For most, it’s just too hard to try.

My Addiction Recovery
Addiction is real and it hijacks your brain to the point of no return, and for a lot of people, that is the truth. Some, on the other hand, return to their old self. For those who have returned to their original selves, congratulations! I applaud you for what you have been through. For you see, I was there as well. I have been through the struggle of addiction, depression, and helplessness. Like a lot of people, addiction runs in my family. Not just on one side, but on both my mother and father’s side. My chances of addiction were high the day I was born. Seeing my dad lose control from his alcohol use while I was in high school motivated me to stay sober and never touch alcohol. In fact, I didn’t have my first drink until I had graduated high school. I wasn’t addicted right away after my first drink, it took a few years. I guess you could say I was your typical “college” guy: drinking at parties, going to bars, and having random Tuesday nights drinking with roommates and playing Tiger Woods Golf on the Xbox. It wasn’t until I began developing symptoms of the disease that I fell at a fast rate. Like filling up a cup with water, everything was fine until the glass couldn’t hold the water anymore and overflowed. I began to develop symptoms of depression and anxiety. I began to notice that I was outgoing, funny, confident, and interesting when I was under the influence.

Dark Feelings
Numb to the pain you look to the bright side, engulfed with jealousy when darkness laughs and you can't hide. People try to help while they are part of the cause, but the mind takes over as you forget to pause. Mental Illness is not fun and games, triggers can't be controlled but may be contained. Turn it off so no one can hear, the yelling from loved ones, that's in your ears. Emotions cause problems so throw them away, Let logic and pleasure be your guiding way. Noises of joy and love at your expense don't make you sick but damage your pathway. You think you want what others have, but maybe it's something you believe you will never have.

Yes, I’m Addicted to Multitasking
The pace of life has been faster ever since I started to live alone. I juggled between school and part-time jobs in a new country, far away from home and my dear ones. I kept journals, agendas, and sticky notes to list out all the tasks to do: complete assignments, coursework deadlines, test dates, and even household chores and errands like doing the dishes, folding the laundry, meal prepping for the week, grocery shopping, etc. I was made fun of by my friends, but I knew I needed those to-do lists to remember things, as I worked 2 jobs (when most of my friends did only one), and the fact that I’m quite absent minded.

Addiction
When you’re addicted, it’s not about the substance or about enjoying or savoring it. In fact, you’ll never have enough of it because it’s about the act of consumption. When you are in the act of consumption, you are in the act of doing something. Having something to do so that you are distracted from reality and the present moment because when you're doing something you are taking some kind of action that is taking up your focus.

Living Life as an Addict
I started at a young age using just like many other people I grew up with. I was considered "dirt" in high school. Ditched school, smoking, drinking, and drugs. But it always fathomed me how all the other "jocks, cheerleaders" all did it too But since they were in sports and doing things in school they just got away with it. But this is about me not them. But I do know that some of those so-called goodie goodies also grew up addicts too.
