Allow me to introduce you to Jeri Hayes! Who often goes by the name Sunny. She is the founder of SunnySide Wholistic’s. You may be thinking, “Another wholistic store?” but this is much more!
SunnySide Wholistic’s provides physical training, meditation classes, breathing techniques, trauma support sessions, detox drinks, and healthy meals plans to assist in the detox of trauma, bad habits, negative self-talk/thoughts, and prepares one to be able to cope with past traumas and help with future traumas. As well as merchandise and public speaking events. Sunny coaches’ people into replacing unhealthy coping habits into positive healthy lifestyle choices.
Sunny assists in accepting your trauma and moving on. She encourages the bluntness of self-awareness and how we have a responsibility, as individuals, to break unhealthy habits. To break generational curses. To push past the hurt that has been given to us involuntarily. She instills a sense of self-worth, self-acceptance, self-love, and self -patience.
Sunny, herself, has coined a new title. A new profession. She is a Trauma Detox Couch/Trauma Support Specialist. “Turning Pain into Purpose” is her slogan. When asked what turning pain into purpose means, she replied, “The one thing that brought you the most pain can also teach you the biggest blessings. For me, it was learning compassion/grace in the areas where I once felt hatred. I turned my fear into what I speak about the most…”
Who is Sunny? She is a mother of three beautiful girls. She is a trauma survivor. She is a woman who has overcome many obstacles thrown her way. She is perseverance and power. As many, she has had dark times. Painful moments. Despite all, Sunny has risen and made her own lane in this world of entrepreneurship.
I first met Sunny through our daughters. They were in dance together and were very close. Shared a BFF Instagram account and everything. With many things in common, Sunny and I talked a lot when we were in each other’s presence. Conversating about our past, what was happening in our present life and what we aspired to achieve. Who we wanted to become. What we wanted for our girls. Being two very passionate people, we fed off of each other.
I remember when Sunny began to think about this avenue of career. She already had a background in physical health, she regularly worked out at the gym and had a clientele she would physically train. She was also doing meal plans for her clients. At the time, Sunny was in nursing school, further educating her mind.
Some of our conversations consisted of the trauma we sustained as children and young adults. These were sensitive areas for us both. Much pain and anger and resentments. How do we let go? How do we move on? How do we forgive? These were some of the things that we would often try to figure out while speaking.
So, this would be the last step. Confronting the heart. Accepting the past and the pain it caused. What to do with all this trauma?
Sunny brainstormed and came up with a model for herself to be able to get past all of this hurt. To help herself overcome her anger. To force herself to become a better person for herself. For her children. Accepting the past and the people who contributed to the trauma as they were/are, would prove to be hard and unbearable at times but attainable.
During her journey towards this new way of life and thinking , Sunny would tell me about people she would come into contact with that suffered the same traumas. Similar pasts. Still stuck in their pain. Unable to find their way through the trauma. I am sure during these many conversations with these many people is when she realized her calling. Her newfound passion in life.
And here she is glowing and shining bright in her own profession!
Sunny encourages us to take a different approach. A different path. A path that forces people to face their inner pain and problems. A path that makes people take responsibility for their actions removing blame of others (I did this because of this/that). A path that encourages to let go of unhealthy relationships, no matter how much history is there (Well she IS my family, We've been together/friends for 10 years now). A path to help people want better for themselves and the ones they love.
Sunny reminds us all not to allow our pain to eclipse our future. To allow ourselves to be who we are and let others be their own person without judgement or prosecution. To accept the past as is and move on in a healthy and productive manner. She focusing on changing the future by feeling the pain of the past. Using that pain to jumpstart our passion for a better life. A new way of life. Sunny tells us to use every lesson as a way to change our perception of reality in order to be prosperous. Accepting that although you are not perfect, you deserve love and the right kind of love, is a message she spreads often!
Sunny has had and still has many supporters. I am proud to say that I am one of them. I believe in her and her movement. To help people in general, is an amazing act of self-love.
