Residents have access to Sober Living House's community of purpose - faith based, neighborhood-based, and medical-based programs which combine all of Sober Living's focus into one cohesive experience. Residents can participate in Sober Living House's youth, girls, and boys programs, take part in house events like pool parties and garden festivals, and take part in Sober Living's nightlife.

The Sober Living House staff strives to maintain a very strong spiritual foundation and environment for Sober Living residents, while still providing all the basic necessities to make for a great Sober Living experience. Sober Living has three major focus areas that Sober Living House takes care of. They are Leadership and Resilience, Multicultural and Cultural Awareness, and Educational Outreach. The staff strives to be accessible and kind to everyone within the Sober Living program. Sober Living also makes sure that they have a number of social services to help the residents meet their needs.

Sober Living provides their residents with so much more than merely a place to live. Sober Living offers a very strong social network for the Sober Living House residents. Sober Living House is happy to host parties and other events, including dances and musicals. The residents of Sober Living House can also take part in Sober Living's many educational programs which include classes and seminars, art and craft lessons, music lessons, reading programs, cooking programs, and foreign language classes.

Sober Living also provides its Sober Living House residents with an on site center for relaxation, meditation, and counseling. The Sober Living House staff works diligently to make Sober Living a relaxing and comfortable place for each resident to live. Sober Living House also has its own museum where the Sober Living members exhibit their arts and crafts and their experiences. Sober Living House also runs a summer camp where the Sober Living House residents can experience what it's like to live in a community for a day.

The Multicultural and Cultural Awareness program at Sober Living offers Sober Living House residents the opportunity to visit the many different cultural communities of D.C. Each month, Sober Living House hosts an open house where Sober Living residents can mingle with other Sober Living House residents and experience first hand, the lifestyle of the other cultures represented in Sober Living. Sober Living also sponsors many cultural events each year. Sober Living has a history of supporting local, regional, and national organizations and groups. Sober Living was one of the original sponsors of the National Day in Washington for Persons with Disabilities, and continues to support a number of other local, regional, and national organization's efforts to improve the lives and the conditions of persons with disabilities.

Sober Living is located in an eclectic part of D.C. near the Georgetown Market area. Sober Living offers spacious apartments, luxurious guest houses, and gated communities with superior security. Sober Living Program in Washington D.C was the brainchild of Leanne Smith and Phyllis Smith. Sober Living is not a long term residential program, but rather a stepping stone to an eventual move to a Sober Living House, and eventually, a Sober Living apartment. Leanne and Phyllis have also invested a lot of time and energy in creating Sober Living House so that their Sober Living House residents can experience living in a safe, nurturing environment.
