Anxiety , the feeling of fear and feeling unease some might say, but i have much more to say. My anxiety has had such a huge impact on my life and i’ve missed out on so many opportunities. I can’t relax myself , I can’t go anywhere without thinking i’m getting judged, I can’t meet people and be my self i have a constant fear of ruining everything by being myself, so i run.. i run from my anxiety, but it just follows me.
This is an example of my anxiety, my friend Alicia and I were going to get food at subway , there was no one in there but yet i felt like so many people were crowding me and judging me. When the worker came to make our sub and I just stared at Alicia as she stared at me, we had our coupon and money in our hand but at that moment we got nervous and scared so we dropped it and ran to her dad and he realized we left our money and coupon inside. He told us to go get it so Alicia went in to get it but only came back with the coupon, so Alicia and I both got out but i said i would go get the money but as soon as i touched the door handle i panicked and she had to go in again, i was breathing very heavily and i was just ready to go home. You see, some people’s anxiety are way worse than others but me and Alicia both have moderate anxiety and we understand each other.
Here are some ways i cope.
- Before i go in anywhere i always take 5 deep breaths and give my self a pep talk! (it important to i courage yourself)
- I always try to be open to anyone who struggles with the same thing so we can talk to eachother ( it lets me know i’m not alone)
- I remind myself constantly no ones looking at me (it helps to reassure yourself that it’s your mind talking to you)
- Lastly i believe in myself (if you believe in yourself you know you can do it and you’ll push harder to be better every day)
Those are just my ways of coping, i’m not saying they will help every body but if you do have anxiety and don’t know how to cope i highly suggest trying those! It’s always good to spread your journey (if you’re open to it) to show others they aren’t alone. Just remember this if you have anxiety or even if you don’t have anxiety just know there are people that do have it and they feel the same way you feel (if you have anxiety) and they need reassurance too!
Here’s some way to help people during an anxiety attack.
- 5,4,3,2,1 method (5 things you see ,4 things you smell, 3 things you smell, 2 things you can touch, 1 thing you’re doing)
- Have them do the 5 deep breath technique
- Lastly reassure them that they are okay, they aren’t alone, everything will be fine.. just give them a pep talk!
All the tips i give are thing i experienced that help! Again everyone is different. I really hope these tips are helpful..
This writing was just to spread awareness that you are not alone and that anxiety is real! If you have anxiety keep fighting, you got this!
