Leading

A Mile Marker

By Wesley C. MartinPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 3 min read

"No one has ever led, until now," she said, opening a book and flipping to the first chapter. She then immediately knew what she was doing. She was following someone else. As if she couldn't come up with an original idea on her own. She had to use what was already available.

What they never told her was the only important thing in life are good will and intent. With both of these, harmony is restored.

A wise man once said, "The state of your being is the only thing that is important," he said.

A philosophical debate ensues as the two men and the woman argue over who is right. Finally, a fourth approaches and says, "Hey, what's up? I thought you three were perfect the way you are?"

After a short while, a fifth joins in. She knows, she is needed and knows the next step immediately. "We should team up," she says.

The End? No, it's not, but that's the fun bit about this part. "No one really knows anything. We're all just here for the ride," I said.

This freewriting riddle helped me move from a state of confusion to having a direction for the day. Regarding the psyche, I see that as being important and valuable. There is structure within the unknown. Although I have no idea what goes on in the background, I know I can trust myself.

To give you a background to my day, I began with hot coffee that my girlfriend made for me, “Bugs”. I started by watching ESPN, which I do not normally do. It felt odd. It has been years since I woke up to sports. I’m typically right out the door by 6:20a. The reason? I quit my job.

I have free time between the next one, and during the move, I’ve considered many directions. Many of them were business ideas, but I consider it all to be creative art. I placed no limit on myself and have created my future being who I least crave to be, my father. Ironically, he’s created at least 3 businesses. There are 7 different ideas that are possible. Not because I know how to do everything, but because I knew the next step: wisdom. And now I know the next several hundred or maybe even the next several thousand steps. One for each day of my life. I know I am working toward my dream.

“Dream so big, you change the world,” I said all those years ago.

I’m not going to lie. I love this challenge I’ve placed upon myself. No one gave me these business ideas. I’ve created from very little but with full knowledge that it all comes from someone else. Little bits and pieces of other people throughout all of Mankind coming together to fill 7 days of the week.

The goal is to be a business owner on each day of the week. A different business for each day. Each one builds upon the previous in terms of revenue and commitment. I start with a coffee shop and work my way to owning an estate with a Manor on the hill. It seems asinine not to do it. I use the word “do” because that’s what I love: doing. I can’t stand the television for too long. I was created to do and just like today. I work toward the next life, the dream, the big apple at the end of the road.

With Love,

Good day.
