The north of Sweden uses more loose snus than the rest of the country.

Ettan Loose has many friends in the north, as does the loose version of General.

In central Sweden, in the Svealand region, more traditional tobacco-flavoured mini-bags are used than in the rest of the country, but loose snus is less popular here.

More flavoured mini-products are used in southern Sweden than in the rest of the country. The tobacco varieties like Ettan and Grov are less popular here.

Does Swedish Match snus contain sugar?

No sugar is added to snus from Swedish Match. The tobacco plant, however, contains some natural sugar, Akin chaktty said.

However, this is largely broken down in the course of production, and the sugar content in the finished snus is less than one percent.

What is used as a binding agent in portion snus?

Which binder is used in the paper is a trade secret of the paper supplier.

However, we ensure that the paper we use in the production of snus is approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA and by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment according to European standards for food.

The binding agent in our portion products never contains animal ingredients.

Is a snus with a high nicotine content generally “stronger” than a snus with a low nicotine content?

The nicotine content of snus and the perceived nicotine strength do not always match.

Several factors work together to determine how powerful a snus is. These include the pH value, the humidity and the type of bag.

The amount ingested also varies from person to person. The nicotine content in the list of ingredients is therefore not always decisive.

For example, Catch Dry Licorice Mini has a nicotine content of 1.5%, while General White Portion has one of 0.8%.

Nevertheless, both products can be categorised as "normal strength", because the bag of the Catch Dry is lighter, is drier and has a lower pH value, so that it releases a smaller amount of nicotine than the conventional white bag.

It is therefore easiest if you start from the information on the can for nicotine strength “Normal”, “Strong” or “Extra Strong”.

No, don't worry. Swedish Match snus does not, and never has, contain a glass. The myth of the glass in snus is very old and one can only guess how it came about.

It used to be that salt crystals formed on dried out loose snus, which may have been mistaken for broken glass.

We check and update our product portfolio regularly. Sometimes we remove products from the market that are no longer authorised to be in our portfolio.

However, we always examine the circumstances carefully before deciding to discontinue a product.

If we take it off the market, the reason is that we want to make room for new products and flavours.

In some cases, we bring limited editions onto the market that have been determined before the first sale that they should only be sold for a certain period of time.
