Stop having to be right, correcting others, giving advice without being asked, complaining, or telling people what they "should" be doing. Take a breath, look in the mirror, and say, I love you. Say that every day until it becomes a natural part of your repertoire to respect your boundaries, your body, and your mental health. Allow others the dignity to respect theirs.
It is not your job to change the world. Your goal is to change yourself and share that with love, understanding and compassion. The law of attraction rather than promotion is how you effect change. Show your true soul self, drop the walls of fear, anger, and indignation. When you love yourself, the natural (rather than normal) way of being will emerge.
Say no when you mean it and yes when you mean it. Your world will transform into a lighter, more beautiful, more peaceful place. You will share rather than hoard, make peace not war, and most of all, love your immediate family and friends with an unbounded lightness that will permeate their lives. That is how you change the world - by changing yours. The ripples will reach your neighbours, other cities, and other continents.
Stop, breathe, and go inside. Cry until your eyes ache, feel the cavernous pain of abuse, be a witness to your childhood, understand and forgive, love all of you. If your body is sick, love the parts that are growing a cancer, that are literally hurting your heart, that make pain in your joints. Send them love. Seek to understand and ask these parts, why? It's okay to be angry, it's part of the cycle. Just don't marinate in it. Emotions are meant to flow in and flow out. Notice all of them. Let them flow.
I am not an advocate of "just think positive thoughts" or of repeating a daily gratitude ritual. While these things are important reminders to practice life with the intention of reaching a degree of happiness and joy in one's life, they are not a pancea for depression or the myriad of other debilitating illnesses that plague our bodies, and society, becasue we think that we arn't enough just as we are and we keep striving to be more and to do more.
When you are exhausted from battling the inevitable challenges of your existence, turn to love. You will find comfort. After all, the ultimate goal, is self love anyway -not vanity or narcissism - love. The amelioration of your connection to yourself is the point. When you can tap into the astonishing truth, leaving behind that societal costume that you wear out into the world every day, you will see you, in all your glory, honest, naked, and exposed, and full of love for self and others.
That's how you transform humanity. You are an integral part of the whole. This is where you have power. Use it wisely in your thoughts and actions. Every word, thought and deed that you emit becomes a beacon for others as an example of how to be in the world. You know the truth of who you are. No need to cover it up with lying, cheating, selling a false image, pretending to be part of a crowd who's values you loathe. I know it sounds corny, but... just be you, with no window dressing. That is where the love resides. Let your intuition guide you. It speaks truth; you can trust it.
