To/Rn
Feelings of at times not belonging in two different worlds

What do you do when you are torn in half?
Two parts of your identity that seems at odds
All your life you hear from one is the other is wicked
So you hide away that side, you pretend, you act
You wear a mask for so long, you forget who you are
But when the cracks form, when the dam bursts open
For the first time in forever you feel … free and true
You find yourself, you accept yourself and begin again
Then you learn the unthinkable, this side of you also spurns
So much history between them fuels rage and mistrust, even hate
You are at war in yourself, you see the wrongs the hate in both
But each side has loud voices saying to distrust and run from them
One will say you are being brainwashed, it can't lead to anything but pain
Yet the other will turn to you, and say the very same things about the other
They cannot see you, not one or another, not torn in the middle, but whole
Both trans and christian, not things mutually exclusive, proudly both
Proudly you
