The Universe Within Me: The Story of Jonatan Vega

Meet the new voice of Mexican sci-fi and horror — writing from identity, imagination, and self-discovery

By JONATAN DAVID VEGAPublished 3 months ago 4 min read

“Every story I write is a piece of me — my heart, my identity, and my imagination waiting to be shared.”

From Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, to the streets of Sacramento, California, my life has been a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and courage. I am Jonatan Vega, a proud LGBT writer who has always believed that stories are bridges between people, experiences, and worlds. Through science fiction and horror, I explore imagination, identity, and the human heart. Today, I invite you to join me on this journey, subscribe to my creative work, and discover the worlds I’ve built.

Early Life and Identity

Growing up in Mexico, I was a boy with his head in books and his mind wandering across imaginary worlds. Stories were not just entertainment — they were my sanctuary, my escape, and my way to understand myself.

I realized I was gay early in life, and discovering my identity was both challenging and empowering. I have never been in a romantic relationship, but rather than seeing this as a gap, I see it as a chance to explore myself, my creativity, and the many forms of love: friendship, art, and self-acceptance.

Living for several years in Sacramento was transformative. It exposed me to new cultures and ideas, shaping how I perceive the world and my own identity. That period taught me resilience, adaptability, and the courage to embrace my voice as a creator.

“Being different was never a limitation — it was a vantage point for creativity and imagination.”

The World of Writing: Science Fiction and Horror

My main focus as a writer has been science fiction. I love exploring alien civilizations, the far reaches of space, and the questions of humanity’s future. Sci-fi allows me to imagine the impossible and give form to ideas that challenge reality.

Recently, I’ve felt drawn to horror, a genre that lets me explore fear, vulnerability, and the darker aspects of identity. Horror is a way to examine what lies beneath the surface — the shadows we carry and the monsters we confront within ourselves.

Blending sci-fi and horror allows me to create stories that are both imaginative and emotionally resonant. My goal is not just to entertain, but to make readers reflect on identity, belonging, and the complexity of human emotion.

“Through horror and sci-fi, I explore the unknown — both in the universe and within myself.”

Publishing and Creative Platforms

I share my work on multiple platforms. My books and poetry collections are published on Amazon, allowing readers worldwide to engage with my stories. I also share my creative projects on YouTube, where I offer behind-the-scenes insights into my writing process and connect directly with my audience.

Every project I release is a reflection of who I am. By publishing online, I hope to reach readers who feel different, misunderstood, or unseen. My work is an invitation: explore these worlds, subscribe, and join me on a journey through imagination, identity, and emotion.

“Each book, each video, each story is my voice reaching out — asking to be heard.”

Reflections on Being LGBT

Being LGBT is a core part of my identity, but it does not define all of me. It gives me perspective, empathy, and insight, which I channel into my stories. Growing up different shaped how I see the world — and writing became a way to process and celebrate that difference.

I hope my stories resonate with readers who feel unseen or misunderstood. By sharing my truth, I aim to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and explore their creativity.

“Identity is not a limitation — it is a lens, a power, a story waiting to be told.”

Connecting With Readers and Community

My greatest hope is that people read, share, and subscribe to my work. Support is vital not only for me, but for the visibility of LGBT voices in literature and media. Through my writing, I aim to create connection — across cultures, emotions, and experiences.

I write for the dreamer who fears they don’t belong, for the reader who seeks representation, and for the LGBT person who wants to see themselves reflected in art and literature.

“By embracing my voice, I hope to encourage others to embrace theirs.”

Looking Forward: The Journey Continues

The future holds endless possibilities. I plan to continue blending science fiction and horror, experimenting with new ideas, and expanding my reach on platforms like Vocal Media. I want my stories to inspire, challenge, and connect people worldwide.

Writing is not just a profession — it is my voice, my heart, and my identity. Every story, every video, every book I publish is an invitation to readers: explore, imagine, and join me on this journey.

“The universe within me is vast — and I hope you’ll explore it with me.”
