The Hard Time Waiting
A Villanelle Poem about Having a Chronically Sick Man
A morning view in foggy frame alone for me
The man I love is crumbling in his agony
A beautiful life will faint away and nobody see

His body is weak, his soul an empty shell
His belief in life has turned to be a hell
A morning view in foggy frame alone for me

I want to scream, I am at your side to carry you
He listens not - his will is dead, he needs no shoe
A beautiful life will faint away and nobody see

I dry my tears, no need for grief – the time too short
His remaining time will be filled with love and support
A morning view in foggy frame alone for me

His brain divided by a stroke lets only anger show
I am his nearest – it’s hard to keep the glow
A beautiful life will faint away and nobody see

A future for us is on hold, we wait for the end
A future for me waits – maybe heaven will send
A morning view in foggy frame alone for me
A beautiful life could wait and everybody see

UPDATE: My Dear Husband died on the 28th of october 2024. He is at peace now.
My husband had a stroke 2022 with only 56 years of age. He makes no progress despite training and treatment. He keeps getting small attacks even if he gets his medication. Everytime they leave him a little more disabled in his remaining brain function letting him be slower and more infantile. He has changed a lot. He hopes that the next will take him, and I understand his wish, because it is very hard to witness and this is not the life we wanted. We had plans about travelling and enjoying life. I still have hopes for a future.
I would be happy if you show me your support in this miserable situation, it would encourage me to carry on - to love and support, to write and escape.

I have been meaning to tell you BIG Congrats on all the Top Stories! You my friend are an excellent writer and I'm honored to know you. I will write you soon about that shared poem. I have been in the writing zone lately.. haha.
Oh Henrik. Your poem was beautiful but I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Strokes are cruel - rob the people you once knew. Wishing you all the best.
I have seen what strokes can do to people with both of my parents having multiple strokes that led to the end of their lives just 4 months apart over 11 years ago. It is hard to watch a loved one go through that. I pray for peace and comfort for you both in this trying time.
Congratulations on achieving first place on this week's leaderboard for Emerging Creator. Well earned and deserved recognition, to be sure.
Congratulations Henrik on your ⭐ bonus for emerging new creators! Very exciting!
well written
My heart goes out to you and your husband. Your writing is beautiful and your love for him shines through it.
Light a candle and you will remember me. You deserve, you deserve, you deserve a better tomorrow, doubly.
Oh, man! So sorry to hear about the sudden changes in both of your lives. Love and strength will help guide you through to the next day and the next after that. Sending prayers, my friend. 🙏🏽

One of our best friend suffered a stroke as well, and unfortunately, like you her recovery has seen little to no progress. I feel for a life that has been changed so dramatically.
I can't imagine how hard this is for you both. Sending love and strength.
