I Wish I Knew
Trigger warning: Sexual assault, intimate partner abuse Why isn't it more well known that intimate partner abuse is a thing? Why is same sex sexual abuse, in any capacity, seemingly nonexistent? These are both topics I feel need to be discussed more. I wish I would have known that these things happened, and I also wish I'd known that I was dating a monster before I started.

Dark Sheep
I always considered myself the unwilling beneficiary of a generational curse. My mother was a habitual adulterer and my father was never above not being treated like he was ever above any of my mother’s less-than antics. He was simple and complacent and my mother was malicious and narcissistic. The mix was toxic and bread an involuntary toxicity within me as their offspring.

1st Day 8th We doing what now? I was not into this day. I was forced to leave my grandparents, my cousin had been 3 doors away my “entire life”, and my sisters and godmother’s were within 20 minutes of the house in which I was built. I was not prepared or even knowledgeable about this move. Wasn't consulted, informed, or even dreamed that my mother would just up and marry some man that she, just months ago, wouldn't even accept his calls.

Coming Out Never Ends
To me, life is everything we choose to make of it. We wake up and most days we have a plan. And on those days that are unplanned we wing it, because I mean, what else are we supposed to do other than keep on moving. We often forget that we hold the key to our happiness. We often forget that whether the sun shines or not there will still be evil out in the world. Acceptance shouldn't be as hard as most people make it. Just be a conscious, loving, and caring human, right?

The Social Construction Of Gender And Gender Roles
Adhering to the ascribed roles of society, humanity tends to protect, nurture, and propagate gender-based identities, believing them to be inherent and biological in their nature. However, all it takes is for one to raise the question, the question of how society ascribes certain roles to an individual. The answer to such a question unravels layers of the discursive phenomenon that collectively contribute towards the construction of such specific roles. Exploration of the social construction of gender not only enables us to decipher the founding constructs of society and the roles of their members, but it also allows us to deeply comprehend how such phenomenon influences a person’s behaviour, thinking patterns, or at large freedom of a person.

Craig Puranen Wilson
