Conquering Elements: A Haiku Series on Overcoming Challenges and Finding Love in the LGBT Community
In ancient Greece, love was seen as a force of nature, akin to the elements themselves. And, in this haiku series, we see that love is indeed an elemental force, burning fiercely like fire, flowing adaptably like water, taking root and thriving like earth, and soaring freely like air.

Transcendence
It had been years since Alex had changed their password. They had been too scared, too scared of what might happen if someone found out their secret. But as they sat in front of their computer, staring at the login screen, they knew that it was time to reset their password.

Caring for LGBTQ+ Adults: How to Make Your Care Agency a Safe Space
Home care agencies provide companionship and supervised care to adults in need of assistance to maintain their independent lifestyles. Today, many young adults cannot provide the in-home care their aging relatives may need due to geographical distance or the demands of their work or families. As a result, senior care agencies are often a welcome step that allows an older adult to stay in a familiar setting while receiving quality care. However, in recent years the healthcare disparities experienced by seniors who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) have come to light. Rectifying this problem is something that care agencies should provide solutions to, as our mission is to ensure that all clients are treated with dignity and respect.

Dark Side of Traditional Values: Bigotry Hiding Behind a Harmless Phrase
The LGBTQ+ community faces discrimination every single day. From workplace harassment to violence in the streets, it’s clear that some people have a deep-seated hatred for those who identify as anything other than heterosexual and cisgender. While there are many factors at play, one of the main culprits is the idea of traditional values — values that claim to protect “traditional families” but often end up encouraging bigotry and hatred against the LGBTQ+ community instead.

Sarah
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Pronouns were trickier now; the world was trickier now. Sarah as he was now known had never existed outside of this hospital room or Stephen’s mind. The process was now illegal for a number of reasons. "The Great Sickness" had wiped out all but ten percent of men and all but fifty percent of women. It was referred to as "The Great Sickness" because there were scarcely enough people left in the world to find out its cause. It seemed to attack the Y chromosome. One little shred of DNA had nearly caused the annihilation of the human race. Quarantine, medication, prayers; nothing worked. The young, the old, the sickness did not discriminate saved for the fact that it effected men more than women.

Carry Pride in your Heart (Micro-nonfiction)
My First Pride I will always remember my first Pride event. I went to one at the approximate age of 11/12. My identity at the time was confined to the pressures placed upon it by others. I was a straight ally, practicing Catholic with a growing curiosity for the LGBT+ community. Little did tiny WriterWoman know, she would grow up to be a proud member of the LGBT+ community. That was the start of my journey, my self-discovery.
