Selene & Eos
she is my dawn … but will I only dim her light?

Matching souls of light, apart for so long, now perhaps found?
I am Selene, moon, brightened by darkness surrounding
I hope, pray … You are the dawn to bring light to me, my Eos
As moon yearns to touch the dawn light, I yearn to meet you
If you are not the light to bring life to the night of me …
Perhaps Moros intends darkness and solitude for me
Alone
Yet you are light itself, dawn, bright and full of life to be lived
Would I simply dim your beauty? Bring you into darkness
Perhaps the Fates have decreed, do not merge your lights
For one of life’s light will be engulfed by moon’s deep dark
Yet, should we not at least try? For you are not just my dawn
In you I see the light of days to come, days shared, our days
Together

I found the imagery of the moon wishing to be more united with the light of dawn and the sun fun to play with, especially as the person I’m crushing on (this is an old crush now - back a few months so not active, but I still wanted to share the poem) could also be called Eos, if you know their other names of course …
*And yes, I am aware that in Greek Myth these two are siblings … but let’s not that stop some beautiful imagery in a poem.
