Rise from Injustice in the Spirit of Love

I have a dream of Equality beyond Discrimination

I am no Martin Luther King

But I too have a dream

.

In this world, no one has signed a declaration of liberation

That love between people must be equal

.

We do not have a historical document

Ensuring us the rights to our love

.

We are disfigured by the stupidity of narrow-minded people

By the rigidity and injustice of books and traditions

Which no flames can cleanse

.

Fear and isolation are our jailers

Nourished by the sacred hatred of discrimination

We are among people, but preferably ignored

.

We cannot claim an anniversary

Despite legal marriage

We remain crippled in the throng of humanity

.

Shameful conditions, violence, and injustice

Youth in the wrong bodies

Elders afraid to hold hands

To dress as who they are.

.

Let us together show the world

The worth and beauty

Of true human value

Across the globe

.

We must give our followers

A promise and a legacy

Of the right to life, liberty

And the pursuit of happiness in our own way

.

We will never allow

Injustice to win

That inhumanity is worth more

Than love between people

.

We shall remind the world

That we live

That we love

That we will rise from the dust of injustice

Whether man, woman, young, or old

.

Discrimination shall be cast aside

We are all divine creations

Equality must be natural

For all who yearn for

The gift of love

.

Let us not sip the remnants of hate

Not be nourished by revenge

But be dignified and open

No weapon shall pierce

The opponent who does not understand

.

Let perseverance be our motto

That we lift our heads and gaze

The physical battle replaced by spirit

With dignity and grace

And honor those who support us.

.

We will not be merely tolerated

We will not hide in closets

We will not hide in cities

In anonymous apartments in gray blocks

But be visible everywhere

.

Let us not despair, but hope

Let us not lose courage, but believe

Let us not be silent, but speak

Let us not be colorless, but shine

Something wonderful is our goal

.

It will be difficult

But I too have a dream

A dream rooted in love

A dream without age or document

A dream of equality for all

A dream of natural understanding

A dream of being exactly me!

.

A dream that everyone can be themselves

A dream that no matter where you are

No one will throw a stone

A dream about faith and books

A dream that respect and esteem

Are natural gifts between generations

A dream of equality despite differences.

.

I hope we can all be together

I hope everyone can be who they are

I hope we can all love who we want

I hope that, no matter our background

We can stand up and be respected

We can help each other

Towards a shared better life.

.

I too have a dream

Though it is still only mine

That perhaps you will share it

Regardless of your color, your faith, your conviction

With one goal for all

To hold each other's hands

To agree without war

To live among one another

That progress and happiness

Are not just a dream.

You've summed up the world's problems in a great poem. Well-said, Henrik.
