More Thoughts About Clayton Kershaw

Adding more takes about the World Series champion

The 2025 MLB regular season is only a month away and we're eager for it to get underway. About a month ago, I wrote a story about Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. In that story, which I will post a link to it down below, I called him out for his bigoted rhetoric. In a 2023 interview, he got in his feelings over Dodger Stadium inviting The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence during Pride Month. He stated in that interview that they, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, were mocking Christianity. To him, it was a personal attack towards him because he's a Christian, when it really wasn't. I've also called him out on other things, but in this story, I have even more to say about Clayton.

In case you didn't know, Clayton (or as I would call him "Mr. Holy Holy" or "Mr. Loads of Fun") is returning for his 18th MLB season. Yes, you've heard that right. This out of touch bigot has been on the same team and in the league for nearly 20 years. I'm a few months older than him and we're both from Texas, but that's beside the point. After being shelled by the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the 2023 NLDS, giving up a plethora of runs in one inning, and eventually his team being swept by them, those would've been signs for him to retire. However, I was wrong and I'm not too hopeful that he'll have a stellar 2025 season. He doesn't perform very well during the Postseason, earning the nicknames Chokeshaw and Kerchoke. I didn't come up with those nicknames. People who weren't fans of the Dodgers did. Because of his numerous Postseason failures, I can no longer see him as on the greats of all time, let alone, one of the best pitchers who has played the game. Clayton is known to be an instigator: snapping at opposing players and teams. There's a saying in Texas: "All hat, no cattle." In other words, he's all talk, no action. It's not our fault that he sucks every single year, embarrassing himself even more. That's just me stating the facts. He's not the stellar pitcher that he once was. Sometimes, it's best to bow out gracefully and call it a career. Will he finally retire after this season? That is yet to be seen. Will he be inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame? It's a possibility, but a small chance. It's more than likely that his number, which is 22, will be retired by the Dodgers in the near future.

I used to be a fan of his. I thought he was a beast whenever he's on the mound. Now, because of the disparaging and dehumanizing comments about LGBTQ+ people, I no longer respect him, nor will I ever defend him again. You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us. Simple as that. I'll never respect a baseball player, especially someone who's supposed to be "The face of the Dodgers", who thinks that we deserve to be treated less than who we are. As I've stated in my last story about Clayton, I have no issues with religious people. If you believe in a certain power and you are a genuine person, all power to you. However, I'm talking about people like Clayton who use their religious beliefs as a hall pass to deny our existence and treat us like crap. Basically, to be hateful. I'm not one to wish Clayton well, because I've lost all respect for him, and I see him for who he is: a crotchety, heartless curmudgeon, and out of touch bigot. I hope that the Dodgers don't win the World Series again this year so he can finally retire and enjoy his life.
