Mis-conceptions

Understanding Mis-understanding and taking pride in oneself.

Being different mostly means being lonely,

accompanied by a deep sense of isolation.

This feeling, this alone-ness, that which makes us unique,

is mostly never appreciated by us until later in life,

when we finally arrive at a sense of self-acceptance.

Humans fear or distrust that which makes other humans unique,

most do not see this trait as unique, but rather see it as pride,

disdain or as someone thinking themselves superior to others.

They may perceive others to be a threat.

I once thought everyone of a certain different persuasion

So very far removed from me, to be kept at a safe distance

All the while forgetting, that others thought the same of me

One day I met a mother and father

Who loved their son unconditionally, positively doted on him

Despite his choice of human companionship and preferences

All my life I had been seen as strange...

I suddenly understood.

Strange and different comes in a myriad of shades and hues

It does not matter what a person believes or opts to embrace

The freedom to live a life unhindered is theirs to choose.

If one believes in a creator...

Then a person's choice is solely between them and their creator

We were born alone, and so, alone, we must choose our path

No one has the right to intervene

Laws which are made by men, some we obey

But not the laws that govern our personal existence, mind, body and soul

I am accepting of all

But always with a pinch and a dash of 'I wonder'

For, yin and yang, good and bad, who are we and for what purpose

were we all created

still resound and forever vibrate in the cosmic regions pf my brain

Who are we really...individually

and what gives us the right to decide

anything?

Are we real or or just wisps of smoke

existing in ephemeral flights of fancy!

Whatever the answer

It is our God-given right to do as we please

Except where, in doing so, we harm others

and deny them that which we crave.

Like floral concepts within a human garden

where each flower co-exists in harmony with earth and sky

Where each plant enjoys the freedom of its own fragrance

and choice of color spectrum,

So too, should humans co-exist,

And accept each other

Allowing each other to make our own decisions

Follow our own path

And be free to chart our own destiny

from our first beginning

and into the final reckoning

When the final bell tolls!

IN THE TIME IN-BETWEEN...LIVE FREE, UNENCUMBERED, HAPPY AND FULFILLED.

The world is made up of differences, we either learn to strike a balance and live in harmony, or go the way of the dinosaurs. This is very heartfelt.

Being alone I enjoyed this and encouraged me to keep doing what I like best - marching to my own drummer and leading my own parade,

Well-wrought! Volition is the foundation of dignity. Respecting others right to choose is the one thing I hold as sacrosanct, and it implies that our choices in turn should not abrogate another's.
