Letters to Our Queer Youth

In reverence to Pride Month, we have joined forces with Queer Vocal Voices to host a writing challenge designed to uplift and empower 2SLGBTQ+ youth.

Why Get Involved?

Writing a letter of support to 2SLGBTQ+ youth is not just a writing exercise. But you know that. In this oftentimes cruel and relentless world of ours, many of our young people are struggling with their identity. Trying to reconcile their authentic selves with the self governments and the ignorant try to impose on them. Isolated and unable to give voice to their emotions, your words will offer hope that acceptance and love is not only possible but it already exists in the hearts of many. A symbol of unity that love is just as we just are.

Love

Knows no color,

No sex,

Or gender,

Spanning the oceans

Vast and wide,

In the sand grains of desert

Plains.

In the rainbow

Born from the elements

Combining,

Embracing all.

Love is beyond words,

Or hurtful judgment,

Or human frailty.

Love just is

As we just are.

Who we are -

No boundaries

Or conditions

To chain us.

Your Challenge:

Pen a letter of support to 2SLGBTQ+ youth

-Word count should between 500-2,000 words

-Must be submitted to the PRIDE community

-Please link your entry in the comments to helps us find your submission

-The contest is open until July 14st at 11:59PM EST

-Open to EVERYONE, we encourage everyone to participate

Any degrading, discriminatory, or hateful submissions will immediately be rejected and are in direct violation of Vocal policies.

The 3 QVV admins and 3 V*iM admins will judge the entries and award prizes to the top 3.

The Prize Pool

1st Place - $15 + Feature in QVV & ViM

2nd Place - $7 + Feature in QVV & ViM

3rd Place - $5 + Feature in QVV & ViM
