From Dusk Till Dream

James & Oneg's Challenge #1 All Night Long

Waiting is the hardest part

The time spent hoping, in silence

Waiting a heart’s eternity

Did her flight land safe?

Am I ready to meet in the morning?

A final flight, all that remains

Between us becoming … Us

Last contact, news that stresses

A potential missed flight

The last flight till we meet

No sleep comes in moonlight silence

Only fear, doubt, worry

A mind’s bully loud, fills the dark

Headlamps of a car the first brightness of the day

Arriving at a crowded, loud, overly bright airport

Stress and panic, anxiety hits again …

Still don’t know if she made the flight!

Buzzing phone, shaking with joy

A flurry of messages from her

The words bright and shiny on my screen

“I’m onboard …

No WiFi …

Hope you'll be there ...

Just landed …”

‘I love you’ last words before the dusk, the nightmare

‘Hi’, first awkward words of this dream, the new life

Cookies brought in hope to the airport

This poem is for the third challenge in James and Oneg's Summer Writing Extrav-again-AGAIN-za! Challenge One:

August 4th- All Night Long - This challenge asks you to create a story or poem that spans a whole night. What happens? How do you make it through to dawn? But here’s the twist: you must not use the words “light”, “day”, “night” nor “dark”.

It is about the night my girlfriend was flying to Australia, right before she got on the last flight to Sydney her previous plane was delayed in getting off so she thought she might miss the connecting flight ... the last I heard before she boarded (thankfully making the flight) was she didn't think she would make it. Unknown to me, when she got on board the WiFi was down and she couldn't contact me so I spent the night before going to pick her up not knowing if she was even going to be there. Let's just say, it wasn't a pleasant night.

Beautifully expressed, it paints a whole story in such few lines.

Flights are more stresfull then ever. (Except maybe the very first) But we never know if we make it to where we are going on time or not. And Ive been in thata position of picking someone up only to find out it is now delayed. Congratualtions on TS
