From intoxicant to remedy
On a sunny day in 2015, Kirk Rutter took the Tube to Hammersmith Hospital in London, hoping to finally get rid of his depression. In the years before, he had struggled on and off with isolated episodes of illness. Since the death of his mother in 2011, the end of a relationship and a car accident the following year, it had become particularly bad. It felt like his brain was stuck in an endless loop, repeating the same negative thoughts over and over like a mantra: "'Everything I do turns to shit.' I really believed that," he recalls.

Design for the soul MDMA (Ecstasy): The drug of the party people
Developed by the Merck pharmaceutical company and launched in 1914 as an appetite suppressant (after all, it was wartime...), it never became popular as such. After various stages of distribution - in the US military as a truth serum, in psychotherapies, where it may still be used in Switzerland today - and oblivion, it was discovered in the 80s by the nuclei of the forming rave movement and in the 90s by 'Stern', 'Focus', and other media as the hip drug of the decade. Since 1986 it falls under the narcotics law in the FRG - a fate it should successively share with its close friends and relatives like MDA, MMDA, MDEA, etc... As part of the hegemonic campaigns against the oh-so-unpredictable danger of the so-called "designer drugs", everything chemically reminiscent of ecstasy was prophylactically banned by administrative act.

Medical Cannabis and Pharmaceuticals
What if we had a solution the opioid epidemic? What if we had a solution to drug overdose? According to the Center for Disease Control, in 2014, nearly 2 million in the US abused or were dependent on prescription opioids. I am not a medical professional, but here is some of the research I've done into replacing medications with the more natural option of cannabis. Cannabis is a plant that can be used to replace opioids, as well as anti-seizure medication, anti-depressants, and anti-anxiety medication. Rx drug overdose in 2014 was up nearly four times what it was in 1999 (National Institute on Drug Abuse). With statistics like those, I think it is best to replace pharmaceuticals with cannabis whenever possible.

EGO DEATH
“The first time I experienced an ego dissolution,” says 26-year-old Bradley from Idaho, USA, “I took four and a half grams of magic mushrooms. At first, I tried to concentrate on getting myself back a bit, but of course, that didn’t work. The mushrooms knew better what I needed. So I just kept telling myself, “I’m not going to die, even though it may feel that way.”

Minor Cannabinoids
Minor Cannabinoids CBG & CBN CBG- Although the chemical composition of the cannabis plant has been around for ten thousand years, we continue to discover amazing new things about its vast and mysterious nature. Most people know about THC and CBD but there are over four hundred other cannabinoids present in cannabis that have positive medicinal effects on humans. CBG (Cannabigerol) is one of the new cannabis compounds being studied. As the chemical precursor to THCA and CBDA, CBG is known as the “Mother Cannabinoid” since it is the origin of all the rest.

The Troubled History of Psychedelic Research
Amid the world wars, Cold War, and culture wars, Swiss writer Walter Vogt called LSD “the only joyous invention of the twentieth century.” The psychedelic drug that would come to define the counterculture of the 1960s got its beginnings not as a recreational substance thrown around at music festivals, but instead as one of the century’s most exciting discoveries for academic fields as diverse as neuroscience, psychology, and psychotherapy.
