Cannabis Oils Are the New Gold
The 2 most common methods of extraction in the cannabis industry are butane and Co2, with Co2 extraction reigning as the leader due to the lower hazard risk during production and the non-toxic nature of the method used to extract the oil.

Pot Advertising Hasn’t Gained Altitude with In-Flight Pubs
As the United States adjusts to sweeping changes in marijuana laws — 26 states and the District of Columbia have decriminalized or outright legalized the herb for personal recreational use — a new green industry has emerged. Marijuana dispensaries and cultivators are actively soliciting new business in the states where it’s legal, and makers of other cannabis-related products are likewise selling their wares in a wide range of earthbound publications.

Beyond the Agenda
Once considered a “gateway drug”, the truth about marijuana is clearly starting to overcome the stigmatism that has long been associated with its use. The truth is that marijuana is 100 times safer than many medications with severe side effects that are prescribed in its place every day. It has several medical benefits which could hinder the profitability of one of America’s biggest money making industries: pharmaceuticals. As found in a study conducted by W. David Bradford and his daughter, Ashley Bradford, researchers at the University of Georgia (washingtonpost), there is concrete evidence found in the significant decrease in numbers of pharmaceuticals being prescribed to Medicare D patients in states which have legalized the use of medical marijuana (healthaffairs). Suggestively, elderly patients who receive Medicare are the least likely to engage in medical marijuana activities. So, it can then be concluded that on a larger scale if the population of young adults who are more open to treatment with cannabis were considered, the number of prescriptions would drop even more. Therefore, if/when marijuana becomes legal country wide, the effect it could have on the pharmaceutical industry overall would weigh in around $4 billion per year. On the other hand, as seen in Colorado throughout 2016, marijuana sales could bring in over $1 billion per state, totaling in excess of an estimated $50 billion annually from the new market. That means that the country would see a loss of $4 billion from a harmful business in exchange for a $50 billion profit from a safer alternative. It seems like common sense. Unfortunately, it’s not so simple.

Will Big Business Takeover the Cannabis Industry?
As cannabis sales totaled at $6.9 billion in 2016, it became a no brainer to many men and women who are passionate about the industry, to quit their nine to five job and take on the cannabis world. But it also widened the eyes of many investors and big businesses.

A Spray of Dope
Sometimes the volumes of information available by just one or two clicks can confuse both experts and non-experts, especially when it comes to the contentious topic of marijuana. To partake or not to partake; to vape or not to vape; to ingest in any form or to steer clear in favor of approved medications; to bypass the local drug dealer and head to a marijuana-friendly state; to scrupulously abide by the letter of the law, until the law becomes so arcane that mere mortals are left scratching their heads. Those are all questions that can cloud the judgment of a healthy person, let alone someone affected by mental or physical pain. Even proponents of taking “just the right amount of marijuana,” because of a purported greater benefit/risk profile compared to other medications, warn about not taking “too much at too young an age,” lest one’s neural wiring becomes totally tangled and a generation of stoners are left unable to control themselves, let alone the country. Of course, that opens up a can of worms, about how sober individuals are governing their respective domains right now, but I digress.

Land of the Lotus Eaters
Yesterday I had the opportunity to help my brother with his booth at the Chalice 2017 Hash Festival. I have heard a lot about the weed business, but it was pretty much background noise. I took the first chance I got to get a few clones and that has been it. I haven’t bothered with a card, because I didn’t smoke until California decriminalized possession. This came back to haunt me, but my day was saved by seeing and meeting the awesome people in the community.

Cannabis Education For Everyone!
Well, I hope that everyone read my first story here, "Marijuana & Morphine... My Life in a Pill Bottle". Posted just a few days ago. Hopefully, everyone was able to stand the fireworks displays on the 4th! Me? Not so much. We can see five different fireworks shows from our end of the road, dead-end, where we have chosen to live. I grew up in upstate NY, left for the Army in '79, and as a result, I can no longer stand the shows. My hypervigilance kicks in and sends me into a state of fear/flashbacks. Even medical cannabis doesn't quite keep up with the hypervigilance. A cross I must bear.
