An abecedarian poem

After careful consideration, I’ve determined you are:

Befuddled and muddled and many shots over par,

Crusty exterior with rotting mush underneath,

Determined to win but chewing meat without teeth.

Elated and celebrated without merit or cause,

Fickle and flightless and overrun by your flaws.

Grit and tenacity? They won’t be found here.

Hell or high water, your shortcomings are clear.

Ideas and passion mean nothing without talent,

Just an infant walking, your dreams oh so gallant.

Kidding yourself you’re great in fact its own win,

Leaving nothing behind when you finally give in.

My idealization, now clearly imagined.

Nothing there worth redeeming, merely entity fashioned.

One and only you’re not and never will be.

Perhaps soon enough you’ll finally see clearly.

Quip your way through another drink more,

Rest easy in jokes and get lost in the lore.

So funny to me now the worth you see in the mirror,

Tears dripped down my cheek until the truth became clearer.

Unless I’ve misread this situation somehow,

Vicious villain and thief, with the gall to allow.

Without remorse, closure or even a note,

Xeric heart, parched conditions, a gut full of bloat.

You coward, some player you turned out to be.

Zombie lost in a fog, forever hungry and empty.

Clever and entertaining. There are a few stand-out lines, but I think my favorite is: "Befuddled and muddled and many shots over par".

The narrative/tone was so strong, which can be really hard in a piece that follows a structure or format like the abecedarian has. Painted a clear picture, was a super fun read!! Thoroughly enjoyed!
