We were your first woman

We birthed you, nursed, nourished, nurtured you

No matter how the day attacked and assaulted

when you came home to us we soothed and supported

Confidence was instilled in you, 'to know that no weapon

formed against you would prosper'

Because of our love, guidance, and encouragement

You became strong healthy males

Body, mind and spirit

But you forgot about us

Your first woman

Your first love

When you attained your pinnacle of success

why didn't you come back for us?

who birthed you, nursed nourished, and nurtured you

so you would prosper

Abbey Lincoln (RIP) told us "When a Negro likes white girls,

his woman, 'the Black woman' is the first he wants to know

about it! White female rejects and social misfits are

flagrantly flaunted in our faces as the ultimate in female

beauty!"

Thank you, Abbey, for those words of wisdom.

We had to stop CARING; we had no choice.

It hurt too much to continue caring.

A whole bunch of WHITE WOMEN made sure

Our Black

Fathers, brothers, and sons

Became

Just another monkey in a cage

or

a coon in a cardboard box

or

a corpse in a coffin.
