Do you care?

Tell me, please, do you truly,

Truly care as you hold me tight?

Do my eyes make you stop in your tracks?

Like how your wide brown eyes

Make me stop in mine.

Do you tense when you hear my voice,

In worry you’ll never hear it again?

As I tense when you smile,

And pray I’ll see you tomorrow.

Are you tortured each night?

Will you tell me your secrets,

As I told you mine?

Do we dance tonight?

Together as a couple in the sun

Only to walk away as the moon would rise.

Was it my words that gave you life?

Was it the way I said your name?

Does your chest shake as your heart shrinks,

Yet you feel alive when you look into my eyes?

Do you feel the way I do?

As we dance tonight.

Together forever will you be mine?

Does this make you smile,

The way it makes my heart smile?

Does your heart skip a beat when you see me,

As does mine when I see you?

Are you a lie in my head,

That begs and pleads against the door?

Begging to get out and live.

Do I just hold you back?

Do I make it all worse?

Do you look at me tonight and wonder what went wrong?

Does this ever mean anything to you,

As it meant it all to me?

As we dance tonight.

Do I believe the things you tell me?

Do I hear your words and take them to my heart?

Or do I hear your truthful voice,

And throw it into the fire to burn?

I know you love me,

As we dance tonight.

With me in your arms as you spin me around

I know I love you

As we dance tonight

With my head near your chest as I tell you my deepest secret.

But do I take it for granted.

Will we walk away tonight?

As if we never were.

Because I worry every second,

Of every minute,

Of every moment,

That tomorrow I will awake.

And realize I was merely a dreamer,

And see that you are not there.

That tomorrow I will open my eyes,

And your smile won't be there.

You say that would never happen,

That this is not a dream for me to behold.

Yet even after all your cares,

I still look anxiously around in fright.

As I worry you won’t love me because of my faults,

And that this will be our last dance together tonight.
