You Welcomed Winter

With All Its Glee

"To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold."

- Aristotle

You welcomed

That first frost

With exhuberance

And glee,

That first ice

Kissed morning

A reminder

Of what was

To be.

You experienced

That first cold

Day

Not with

Melancholy

But with

A child's glee

So full of

Joy,

So full of

Dreams.

Those ice kissed

Days spoke to

You of the

Promise of

Hot Cocoa

On wind

Chilled evening

And movie nights

With blankets

And popcorn.

I remember

The excitement

Of winters

First kiss

And the joy

It would bring

Promises of snow days

And icy play

The winter

Fun to

Come.
