"Can you hear me?" I say over the phone,
Excited to rant about the day I just had.
I talk about how I was late for work yet again,
How I lost my favourite hairpin,
Only to find it in my drawer, right where I'd left it.
We talk about trivial things,
Letting our troubles slowly fade away,
For a moment, of course, as they're never truly gone,
But, in those precious moments over the phone, we pretend they are.
We forget all those we've lost,
How much we've gone through,
How little time you have left...
But it's fine.
I'm fine.
Or so I thought.
"Can you hear me?"
...
I guess not...

Awww 🥹 So heartbreaking 🥹 Amazing poem! The emotions I felt in between the lines were so real and raw. Creatively written!
