You Miss Them 💔

A poem about lost love

You miss them.

So do I.

Our people are different but the story's the same.

What was once love is now withered away,

A dead rose sits in the back of your closet because you're secretly hoping it will bloom again,

but it won't.

It's over.

It's like a movie when the credits roll and they cancelled the sequel.

The story was amazing! The characters were great! You wanted more! You couldn't wait!

but you were forced to leave.

The theatre's empty now, it's closing down, the janitor shows up and starts to sweep.

You get to your car, you sit down, you put in the key... you start to weep.

You see,

The guy never got the girl,

The girl never got to dance,

They almost had everything, but they missed their chance.

How do you deal with that?

That terrible ending?

How do you go on,

Without pretending?

Without pretending their ghost doesn't follow you around like a puppy when you carry a treat.

Without pretending that their name doesn't haunt you every time you hear it in speech.

Without pretending that you don't cry every night when you sleep because you know, they'll show up every time that you dream...

How do you go on,

Without pretending?

Pretending that you don't actually care.

Because you do.

You're crawling into bed, cuddling a pillow pretending it's them.

Playing a playlist of sad songs, over and over and over again.

Waiting for their text, always checking your phone,

Crying in the shower for an hour because the warmth of the water makes you feel less alone.

How do you go on?

How do you feel this feeling?

Avoid it because you don't want it to be true,

That's my logic, I know it's flawed,

but I miss them,

and So do you.
