You Can’t Take It With You When You Go

Famous last words he ever Spoke

You Can’t Take It With You When You Go

Uncle hoarded each coin like a tightwad,

counting in silence, dreaming of tomorrows.

Money saved, all joy withheld.

On his last day, breath shallow, he muttered,

You can’t take it with you when you go.

I have been a foolish man.

I nodded, pocketing his keys.

So spend it while you can, I said, walking out.
