You are trying to stop me
Many treat my breasts like speed bumps towards my goals
You are trying to stop me
Several think my unique walk is a muzzle for my mouth
You are trying to stop me
Because you think that the hate you throw on me will stop me
You think my brown skin means I will never measure up
My skin has flavor, my culture has seasonings that for some reason your complexion always tries to steal or copy
You are trying to stop me
You blame me for your incompetence
You blame me for your lack of effort
You blame me for going over and beyond
You hate me because my ancestors are used to the struggle to get where they are going
You hate me because you know women literally bleed while we crush your expectations and you fall behind
A bunch of you are demanding to throw the n word at us
A high quantity want to cage us in kitchens and shut up
So many of you stare because disability takes away a bit of our humanity
In your eyes because your brain is not able to calculate all of the beautiful ways one can live within society
You are trying to stop me
Because you will never be willing to put in the work
You are trying to stop me
Because this country was stolen, controlled and molded for you to obtain power
You want to block me
Even though you made the mistake and kidnapped my ancestors
You are trying to stall me
Because you think a dress defines us
You are trying to steal my right to life because
Stolen land, with selfish rights only end up with hostility, ego and vengeance

Thank you so much! Just wait for my novel to come out. The election hit hard but I can't allow them to steal my life, joy, or dreams. I have so many projects to work on and each one they will hate. I appreciate your words.
Power messages 👑👸🏾❤️♥︎❤️♥︎❤️They can hate all they want, but we not letting that stop us! Love this poem.
