Yesterday Today and Tomorrow

Poem

By Mary BoatrightPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Yesterday, I was just a small child

Sitting alone in my room…

Playing with my dolls and laughing

There were no responsibilities for me to assume…

Next, I was a teenager

With problems of my own…

Like which clothes should I wear?

I’m always on the phone…

Today, I have my own small child

Who reminds me of my yesterday…

I’m teaching her to love

And to live and to play…

Next, I will be a grandmother

And by then the world will have changed…

I will treasure my memories

And note that lots of things will have become re-arranged…

Tomorrow, I will be old and gray

As I think of all the days of my past…

I’ll remember all of my yesterdays

As my memories will begin to fade so fast…

Next, the time will come for me to go

And I’ll know that all of days will have been worthwhile…

As I close my eyes for the last time, I’ll always know

That I’m leaving this world with my yesterdays and a smile…
