Yesterday’s Tears Frozen to Ice

Life can be cruel and cold

Yesterday’s Tears Frozen to Ice

She cried last year, and the year before,

But no one came, no knock, no door.

The world just turned, like it always does,

And left her there—because it was.

Her hands once warm now don’t unfold,

The things she touched all turned to cold.

She speaks in cracks, not in a song,

Been holding on, but not for long.

She learned to blink without a sound,

To wipe the pain when no one’s ’round.

She doesn’t ask, she doesn’t plead,

She cuts her heart and lets it bleed.

A winter girl in summer’s frame,

Her skin still soft, but not the same.

You touch her soul, you burn with frost.

She loved too much, and now she’s lost.

No fire left, no light, no flame,

She answers slow when called by name.

Not out of hate or some disguise.

Just yesterday’s tears, frozen to ice.

So leave her be, don’t break the shell,

She’s not a tale, she’s not a spell.

She’s quiet now, behind her eyes,

Where memories live, and something dies.
