Yellow Plaid

My high school frustration poem

By Sarah DanaherPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Yellow Plaid the blinding horror

Of the days of lowly place

In life’s long musical

That never seems to go away

My presence never realized

And part of the props

Never noticed for talent or loss

Hidden in the corner by the door

Only if you look for me

Will you find the yellow plaid

And matching yellow hat

Standing in the corner by the door

Want to move or make a sound

But the script never says

If I step out of line

I find myself back where I am

Nobody special, just a prop

Trying to be a lead

But never a successful plot

Maybe one day I will be what I have dreamed
