Yellow or Blue
Would I yawn if it was much longer,
buy a horse instead .
Sit tall and straight on its bare back looking
as colourful as a giant can of Arizona Iced Tea .
Sometimes a drop of coffee or
or a splash of whiskey on the tongue
is all that’s needed for satisfaction.
More can be a spiral of disappointment,
wet hands trying to free the bar of soap
from its wet waxy wrapper.
I could’ve bought that horse,
but the horse never would have loved me back.
Maybe it would have loved me back
—for the handful of clover.
