Dear yellow.

I long to read your hue and deepen

My violets against your heart.

Dear yellow.

My dearest yellow,

Why did you harshen your sundry rays,

And make my shadowy purple spark

Sink into the night,

Sink into that void,

Sink into nothingness?

Immune once to you, yellow,

I saw the yellow flowers of April’s rain

Pepper my eyes.

Dear yellow,

Why was that brand of friendship and platonic love

A violet shade too strange for your yellow ?

Yellow muse,

Yellow lemon flower,

Yellow sunshine,

You hide from my violets, you aren’t lonely,

I know yellow can be and live

Without lonely,

But I am,

I always have been,

I will always have these other colors surround me; they silence and cover me,

And still, you’ll shine

And pepper my eyes with sunshine.

Yellow, you are unaware of those harsh hues that surrounded violet

How they

Muted it, scratched at it,

Drained it.

Yellow, you only saw dreams, and what violet’s words told them through its colorful sieve.

I love to share my stories with you, my layers of heart

I long to hear your voice and stories,

But the chasm I’ve always felt frozen in,

It’s now collapsed,

I’m gone and from you, apart.

Dear yellow,

My purple hues must’ve sent you away,

My strange ways of caring and overt ways of sharing,

It set you away from me.

Dear yellow.

I cry too,

Purple has tears that flow like a deep ravine,

But I hide.

I did not hide with you,

I did not hide.

But now I am trying to open up my color,

So your sunshine can once again

Shine with me.

I’ve been so clear but I obviously

Cannot explain it well,

I’m muffled

I’m peppered

And Anabelle Lee is quiet,

High above with the sun,

Lemon balm still with my stories,

Still with our deep shared smile,

And now,

On a black and white page,

No …

Just peppered yellow flowers

Against my purple, shadowy words

And a dream that felt too real,

A dream that collapsed in my writing hand

And sunk to my aching,

Twisted Purple Heart.
