Portrait of a Church

You'll see I'm really quite normal
If you meet me.
That is unless I'm channeling gravity.
Chairs inconsequential to the space
Yet they anchor the piece.
Loose lives are a genuflection in mind.
Oh, how harmonious the years of church
How arching my mind sweeps
For this harmony, I long to keep
In my soul
A newer line sprouting from my palm
A new tree
To grasp your song
Oh, Heaven May I please thee
Forever and always
Given is the tree.
For, given is the moment
In which I come to thee.
This piece of artwork is done in pastel chalk. From a series of church studies several years ago. The poem was written prior and fit the work. The series of artwork I plan on continuing in honor of these great structures. L
