Writing Poetry Every Day For A Month
A Poem a Day in February 2025
A Poem a Day in February is fast approaching. I am always looking for different poetry forms to try out. There are four poetry contests in February on my writers' site and my Facebook page.
For today, I am going to practice a tawddgyrch cadwynog. I tried this out two years ago. I'm still no better than then.
It is reported that it is a Welch poetic form. It is written in at least two quatrains with a four-syllable line length and its end rhymes in the pattern of abbc/abbc.
Here is my attempt with a few thoughts of old man winter:
Winter is cold
Snow is needed,
I once pleaded
It is winter
~
It can get old
snow is greeted
not depleted
he must tinker
~
Cold is so bold
scream mistreated
we are heated
lots of banter
~
I am not sold
I feel cheated
and I leaded
more snow mister
~
Old man does hold
he's deep-seated
I concluded
he's sinister

Authors note: please give it a try.

I like it! I will take your advice and try it myself.
I feel you executed it brilliantly! Loved it so much!
I’ve never heard of this poem style, you wrote this very well!
These are great. I never heard of this kind of poetry. Good job.
I look forward to reading your poetry!
Love that poem and good luck with Feb poems.
This is impressive, Denise! I'm so bad with poetry I don't even know how to approach it, except for haiku.
