A Reverse Poem

I cannot be a writer

Never again will I say

I have so many ideas

It’s hard for me to believe

I can get over writer’s block again

I know for a fact that

I wrote great stories many years ago

Now, I know

My work is just a pile of garbage

I will not say to myself,

As I rest my fingers on the keyboard,

Writing is a grand adventure!

No,

Writing is a pointless waste of time.

Never again will I think

I can write great stories again.

My stories are bland and unimaginative.

Why did I tell myself

I’m a talented artist

All I’m good for now are dull, mind-numbing essays

Never again will I say

I can be a writer.

Everything can change if we look at things from a different angle.
