Wounds That Heal
All wounds turn into scars that turn into stories
I admire scars, they each own a story, an insight into past you were not present for - if belonging to another. Our bodies are a canvas for life to draw on and our scars are proof of wounds that have healed. Sometimes the story that follows our scars are fun, sometimes scary and others just dumb luck however they prove resilience of the body.
I admire physical scars but, I have a deeper admiration for mental scars, the ones that you only hear about but, you cannot see them so, you cannot observe nor ask. Mental scars exist but are invisible to the eye making them harder to heal and seal. The likelihood of these to shred open is a risky game. Life likes to toy with these scars. The ones on the inside. Unfortunately, we cannot simply slap a band aid on or stitch up the deeper ones, we must run at them head on in order to close them up. The resilience of the mind is far more powerful than the body, it is the mind that wrecks the body when it is feeling weak, when we come out walking step by step and breathing breath by breath it is when we should have a true respect for the mind and its power.
I admire scars but the invisible ones I have a deeper admiration for. To those who spend too much time inside their own heads gawking at the wounds that lay before them, all wounds heal into scars that just become part of another story.
