‘’Words are Like a Chameleon”

Once upon a time,

Your words were like warm blanket enveloping me in its embrace

shutting out the coldness from the outside world.

Then…

Your words were like a breath of morning dew on marigold,

watering my womanhood,

propelling me to greater heights.

Now…

You mock my weakness

and scorn my meekness

you hang me dry for the world to see my nakedness.

Once…

Your words caress, engulfing me in its warmth

Today...

You besiege me with your mouth

till I’m bereft of breath,

Now…

Like a powerful whirlwind

your words sweep through me

knocking me down on my feet

you cut me deeply with your sharp words

till I’m left bleeding from the wounds

the scars from the wounds of your venomous mind

have turned cancerous

and words like flies feed and infest my soul.

Now…

You nag, you nag till I’m sedated

and I become drowsy from the cacophony of hatred

You parade as communication

Am highly sedated

and I can’t recover from the maze in my mind.

My salvation is far.
