Woodbine Beach

I wrote this when I was heartbroken

I love this view of the beach.

The horizon is where the earth meets The Heavens and The Underworld.

I have been on this bench with you before.

Some believe that when our time on earth ends,

Some will rise to The Heavens,

But some will sink to The Underworld.

I hoped to drown in the abyss before I met you.

I felt too exhausted to continue treading the waters.

I thought that you brought me back to life.

I believed that there was a meaning to our lives.

The sunlight illuminates the clouds,

But the clouds pour water on our heads.

You illuminated my life for a time,

Then the rain came pouring down.

The rain made you so blue, as well.

You are ill, and you need more than I can give.

If I could make your pain go away, I would.

As quickly as my beating heart.

I just don't think I can.

Can you save yourself?

I write poems because I feel my feelings very deeply.
