WOMAN

whispers of freedom

By Abigail WanjiruPublished 2 years ago 2 min read

In the land of courage where the shadows cannot stand, There was a story of a woman who had a noble plan. Her heroic act took place under the moon in Africa, the night winds whispered and she defied traditions.

Her home was in the midst of a village, where the old folks dictated. The daughter of the soil found her way through the wind and Baobab's shade. She rose an illumination for those who had been silenced; she was not afraid.

Her name is a tune in the wind of leaves, A warrior for justice, a heart that endures. In the rights of women, in their unheard voices, A story of courage in the plot she would show.

Once again, against the norm, the blade's brutal touch, she stood her ground amidst a realm of pain. She was a protector of virginity and a beacon of chastity. A crusader against FGM on that holy ground.

At the fire, where tales were spun, her story began; a tale to be told, From the shores of the Nile to the Sahara's wide vastness. She embarked on a mission to outsmart the madness.

She, with eyes searing like a blaze of the savannah's fire, confronted the elders, whose traditions adore, but she was endowed with knowledge and compassion in her eyes, And she challenged the status quo under the African skies.

She fought for freedom, for what should be in the silence of the night, by the side of an acacia tree, through the Maasai Mara where a lion roams free she became an icon, a diplomat of honor.

From the banks of Lake Victoria to the dunes of Sahara, her courage resonated in African songs; a heroine making her stand, like the sun in the morning against FGM, she had won.

Her voice rang high through the cracks of silence; An orchestral anthem to challenge the tyranny of the sky, For the daughters of Africa, her spirit was a roar, A liberator, a guardian, in every note.

In their hearts, she ignited a glow, Passed on to the world beyond time's call, For the liberty she sought, for scars to heal, In her heroic act of courage; the world we feel.

In the rivers, mountains, and the Baobab tree that stood for ages of time, Her name rang out, a breath of victory, A woman who had dared to stand against the sharp edge of tradition's knife, A freedom fighter and guardian of life.
