Wolf Poetry All Over My Writing Group
A poetry contest means I get the scoop
A few of my dads neices and nephews said that we are wolf clan.
Except a medicine man told my brother we are bear clan. Man,
I thought that because there was a white grandfather, we are eagle
I didn't care just as long as we aren't from the clan of the seagle
~
The other night, I heard howling from a few directions and knew
that there in my neighborhood was a pack of wolves, and I grew
a bit nervous. We have a family of deer nearby. A mother with three
young ones that we see regularly, and I would like them to stay free
~
Loyalty, and community are especially important in the wolf clan
They are responsible for protection and care of the land
They care for each other and find what is the best for the rest
When I hear wolf stories, I cringe, as people don't know what's best.
~
Nature cares for it's own,
I want the deer left alone
but is that what should be
I turn that over to God you see
~
Your will not mine
In your time
Bear clan
medicine man
protectors
patrol borders
~
Relatives
Brothers
Sisters
When wolf clan
All wolf clan are family, even
those we may not like
Bear clan is alike
I am related to all
Bear clan, doll
I don't eat my brother
or my sister!
