Woke Up from a Dream

Today I woke up from a dream

Though it barely even started

One that ended before the scheme

Or any chance ever charted

+

I saw you with your soon becoming beau

Expressions cute, dare I disturb the flow?

Why good lord of course not, good heavens no

This is one discord I will never sow

+

Is it really love if it’s a one way street

Where imaginations are mine alone to keep

Undisturbed dreams can be a thing so very sweet

As long as they remain untouched

+

But of this reality I cannot deny

Indeed there really is no warm “you and I”

All my deep dreams ending in an utter sad lie

As I wave from a short distance a small goodbye

+

If you really love them you let them go

And don’t let pining after them reap and sow

The vagaries of suffering and sadness

+

Put aside ego, happy at their content

And stop allowing yourself to be so spent

Living in your very small head free of rent

Because she didn’t pick you
